Legitimate Business Opportunities
How can you tell legitimate business opportunities from a scam? There aren’t really any hard rules, and you always have to do your due diligence. But there are some very simple, basic checks: are there any complaints at the Better Business Bureau (BBB)?
Another very basic thing to do in the first place is just to look at the proposition they are making and ask yourself: is this too good to be true? People and companies who offer business opportunities know that nothing sells as easily as something that promises to be easy, hugely profitable and fast. Something like “Make $8000 a week by working just two hours a day from home in your first month, and all you have to do is to buy the Fast Big Money System for $49,95″.
If you do a Google search for business opportunities, you will see many of these kinds of offers advertised. These things are definitely too good to be true.
One thing you always want to look for is a money back guarantee. Also, check out for how long this guarantee is valid – a 7 day money back guarantee isn’t do you any good, because after 7 days you are in no position to judge the effectiveness of a business system.
There are of course “the big ones” – thinks like opening a McDonalds franchise, etc. But let’s face it, unless you have $100000+ to spend that’s not going to be an option for you.
The great thing about the internet is that even people with very little start up capital can grow a profitable business, and you can grow it step by step.
